The war memorial coin for non-combatants (non-combatants) was donated together with the war memorial coin for fighters on May 20, 1871 by King and Kaiser Wilhelm I. The commemorative coin was given to all court and state officials and employees of the railway companies who crossed the border with France before March 2, 1871. Furthermore, the commemorative medal was given to all Knights of St. John and Maltese and the people who were in his service, people involved in voluntary nursing, doctors, nurses, patient carriers, women and virgins as well as pastors in the field of caring for the wounded in hospitals in France until March 2, 1871 were active. People who have done at least 4 weeks in this area in their home country could also be suggested. The military, civil servants and medics of the army who did their service between July 16, 1870 and March 2, 1871 at home or on warships in difficult circumstances, could also be honored. The dies were cut by the court and coin medalist Wilhelm Kullrich. The war memorial was awarded with a certificate of ownership. The commemorative coins were not returnable. Unofficial medals were subsequently minted that are made-to-order for medal buckles. These are made of non-ferrous metal and have different stamps.
