The Association of German Military Candidates represented the interests of German military candidates.

Military candidate was a term for former soldiers in the German Empire who were eligible for high civil service (mostly civil service).

Definition:

Military candidates were non-commissioned officers who had served a certain period of time or were no longer fit for military service.

These were subsequently used primarily as civil servants, e.g. B. at the post office and railroad etc. continued to work.

The term was still used in the Weimar Republic.

Most of the military candidates were organized in the Association of German Military Candidates founded in 1904; in Bavaria there was the Association of Bavarian Military Candidates.

It was founded in 1904 and goes back to the Military Candidate and Invalid Association in Berlin and the surrounding area, which was founded in 1893.

In 1905 the association already had 36,000 members and grew to 74,000 members by 1914.
